Cassandra’s passion for art began in 1993 with embroidery, after being the victim of a gun shooting and losing her sister from that same incident. She used embroidery as a means of coping with her grief while fighting to feel alive again, and that passion was eventually redirected to painting. Cassandra paints to express her feelings, remember her sister, and to cherish the beautiful moments in her life. Her artistic style gravitates towards abstract, impressionism and realism and she prefers to work in oil, acrylic, gauche, and watercolor. Cassandra is an active part of the visual arts program* at Rancho and volunteers her time to help other patients learn how to live a full and productive life after rehabilitation. She wants others to know that while they may not be able to express themselves through words, they can always express themselves and heal through art.
*The year-round adult and pediatric patient art program is fully funded through the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation.
