About Rancho Los Amigos Foundation

The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 1983, to raise funds for programs, services and equipment for Rancho patients and their families. It is the mission of the Foundation to help pediatric and adult patients, whose lives have been forever changed through disabling injuries or illnesses, experience the Restoration of Health, the Rebuilding of Lives, and the Revitalization of Hope.


About Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (Rancho)

Located in Downey, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is a public rehabilitation center that provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to individuals of all ages with physical disabilities due to catastrophic injuries or illnesses (such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury etc.). Rancho treats some of the most complex cases in this country, seeing nearly 4,000 inpatients and 75,000 outpatient visits annually. It primarily serves residents of Los Angeles County, although individuals from neighboring counties are also referred for services. Approximately 25% of Rancho clients are indigent and an estimated 60% are MediCal recipients.

Rancho’s clinical team is one of the finest of any rehabilitation hospitals in the world and has set the standard for patient care for decades. Our doctors, therapists and nurses work together in treatment teams to provide the very best care for our patients. By collaborating with major universities throughout the nation, our clinicians continue to revolutionize the practice of rehabilitation medicine through vital research projects.

For the past 20 years, Rancho has been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” in Rehabilitation Medicine. It is the only rehabilitation hospital in California or any neighboring state to be named to this prestigious list.
