As one of Rancho’s newer artists, Nikki Abastillas’s preferred art style is anime and she uses a variety of mediums such as acrylic, pencil, and digital illustration to create her artwork. Influenced by something she is watching, as well as her mood and how she feels on that particular day, Nikki finds her art to be a fantastic way to express what she has a hard time putting into words. Nikki’s passion for anime started in middle school as she began drawing characters whenever possible. She participates regularly in Rancho’s visual arts program and finds the classes help deepen her skill level, as well as provide a sense of calmness, an escape from everyday challenges, and a distraction from her physical pain.
