Artists of Rancho – Jose Moreno

Rancho artist Jose Moreno has been creating beautiful artwork since 2009, when he first met renowned mouth stick artist Robert Thome through the visual arts program* at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.  Despite Jose’s hand splint, Robert encouraged him to start painting after his injury, which led to Jose taking a variety of college art courses. His preferred medium is oil painting and his works are captivatingly full of vibrant and radiant colors.  Jose’s inspiration comes from nature’s various seasons and he loves to use his painting to express himself politically. Throughout the years, spending time painting has allowed his mind to expand, his heart to experience joy, and his world to become bigger. Jose has been a member of the Rancho outpatient family since 1990, when he came to Rancho due to an automobile accident that left him quadriplegic with limited hand motions.

*The year-round adult and pediatric patient art program is fully funded through the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation.
